Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Infant Development Program (IDP) within the Department of Psychology, and alternating between the Blue and Gold classrooms, this multi-classroom child development teacher participates in the planning and implementation of curriculum, developmental activities and on site care of individual infants and toddlers. Write and implement lesson and activity plans. Participate in the overall evaluation of the program. Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the high-quality care of infants and toddlers. Ensure compliance with state licensing and national accreditation standards. Participate in support of the overall mission and goals of the IDP unit.

Experience working in an NAEYC-accredited program. (Preferred)
Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using correct English grammar and vocabulary to obtain and convey information accurately and precisely by phone and in person. (Required)
Possess a high level of discretion in order to work with confidential information and interact with children, families, students, and members of the community. (Required)
Ability to perform in an open office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. (Required)
Skill in interacting with persons of various social, cultural, economical, and educational backgrounds. (Required)
Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues. (Required)
Ability to assess a spectrum of job needs and personal demands and establish appropriate priorities. (Required)

Demonstrated understanding of best practices and developmentally appropriate activities in infant/toddler child care. (Required)
Ability to work some evenings and weekends. (Required)
Experience working with infants and toddlers in a child care center. (Required)
Experience working in a campus-based child care center. (Preferred)
Demonstrated understanding of National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation standards and California child care licensing regulations. (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in related field and / or equivalent experience / training (Preferred)
Must have completed 12 ECE units in specified child development courses, as dictated by state licensing. (Required)
Possess a Child Development Teacher Permit as required by the Department of Social Service upon hire date. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
