01 | 40% | Conduct instruction by developing and implementing lesson plan while adapting plan to meet individual developmental level and learning styles. Promote successful classroom performance for each child. Encourage the child to develop a positive self-concept and support that self-concept through child directed activities. Document and monitor children's progress to evaluate appropriateness of curriculum to meet children's developmental needs. Supervise staff in the development and implementation of the curriculum and assessment in a safe, orderly and quality work environment. |
02 | 10% | Create a developmentally appropriate environment where children are comfortable enough to verbalize feelings, question, explore, experiment and problem solve. |
03 | 10% | Supervise the CACFP food program at the center/site level to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Participate in meal/snack activities by assisting staff with preparing and serving food, eating with the children, and cleaning up after meals. |
04 | 10% | Create and maintain accurate, confidential reports and records within applicable regulations and performance standards. Maintain files and documentation. |
05 | 5% | Develop and maintain good communication while respecting confidentiality. Establish rapport and trust with parents, staff, volunteers, and visitors in order to respond to children's needs. |
06 | 5% | Provide assistance to children during daily napping and bathroom routine by offering guidance and support when needed. |
07 | 5% | Ensure the coordination of health issues regarding children and family with appropriate staff members. |
08 | 5% | Continue professional growth by attending classes and workshops, reading new materials and contributing resources to the program. |
09 | 5% | Travel for business purposes to various sites to conduct home visits and conferences with families. Other duties as assigned. |
10 | 5% | Ensure compliance with Federal Head Start Performance Standards, state and local regulations and rules. Promote Head Start philosophy and initiatives. Prompt and regular attendance. Represent Drake University and the Drake University Head Start program in a professional manner. Treat clients, coworkers, staff, partners and community members with respect, civility, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for everyone at all times. |
