The Department of Teacher Education at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education. Qualified candidates will support, sustain, and expand our commitment to excellence in teacher education.
We seek a colleague possessing experience with a broad population of stakeholders from a variety of school contexts who can engage in the culture of teaching, scholarship, and service within the College of Education, the university, and the surrounding community. Additionally, we seek a colleague who will actively contribute to the success of our students, engage in the collaborative and interdisciplinary work of faculty, and advance the mission of our program, college, and university.
Responsibilities for the position will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in hybrid, in-person, and online formats, curriculum development, program coordination, work with PK-12 school and content partners, advising students, maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and engaging in service inside and outside of the university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree or ABD in education, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or closely related field
Minimum three years of certified PK–6 teaching experience
Knowledge of Michigan teacher certification requirements and standards?
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with accelerated certification with residency models, or other clinically based teacher education programs
Experience teaching elementary literacy or mathematics methods courses
Knowledge of accreditation and program assessment
Experience designing undergraduate and/or graduation coursework in teacher education
Evidence of service to department, college, community, and profession.
