Accountabilities:
The Department of Music at Colgate University invites applications for the position of Teacher of Violin, beginning in Fall 2025. This part-time role is ideal for an experienced violinist with a strong commitment to teaching and a passion for fostering musical growth in a liberal arts setting. The teacher of violin is responsible for:
- Teaching violin lessons to students; relevant techniques and performance skills.
- Developing and implementing lesson plans catering to students' needs and skill levels.
- Selecting appropriate repertoire and musical pieces for students to work on during lessons and performances.
- Staying updated with current trends and developments in violin and incorporating innovative teaching methods into lessons.
- Meeting weekly with students to provide 30-minute or 60-minute lessons throughout the term.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching violin lessons on a one-on-one basis, with preference for experience teaching at the collegiate level.
- Professional performance experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
