Your Role on the Team
Under the supervision of the Primary Caregiver, assistant teachers help plan the day for infants and implement, on a daily basis, a plan for learning relevant the needs, abilities and interests of the children. Caregivers develop a relationship of trust through caregiving routines which support children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language skills.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Ability to work effectively as a member of a child development team, with children, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a quality educational program.
Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education, as well as changes taking place in the field.
Ability to work with and be sensitive to a culturally diverse community. Ability to relate to children as individuals in small and large groups.
Ability to relate to children as individuals in small and large groups
Ability to plan, organize and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for infant and toddler aged children.
Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child care facility.
Current First Aid and CPR cards
Knowledgeable of NAYEC Accreditation Criteria.
Effective communication skills, both with children and adults.
6 or more units of Infant Toddler coursework
Current First Aid and CPR certifications/cards
Associate Teacher Permit or higher
Minimum of 2 years of working in a center-based environment.
Preferred:
AA degree in Child Development or related field
Special Conditions:
This is a in person position, teachers may be assigned shifts between 7:30 AM- 6:00 PM, Monday- Friday depending on the needs of the department.
