The Nebraska College Preparatory Academy (NCPA) seeks an innovative, creative, and dynamic teacher for the Omaha South High School  University Preparatory Academy Success Seminar (U-PASS). U-PASS is designed to enhance NCPA scholars' critical thinking, analytical skills, and vocabulary and provide access to tutors. The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a curriculum that supplements the Omaha South High School curriculum while engaging scholars in current events, creative reading and writing, and better preparing them for the academic rigors of college. The teacher will be responsible for at least 4 U-PASS classes a day (Omaha South is on block scheduling), attending parent teacher conferences, serve as a resource to NCPA scholars and Omaha South High School teachers regarding the program, plan NCPA Summer Stars (5 week summer school program), provide support to summer camps and other events as designated by the NCPA director. The teacher will also identify, train, hire, and evaluate the tutoring program at Omaha South High School. NCPA seniors are required to complete a capstone project; NCPA teachers plan and implement the senior summer camp in which scholars create the foundation of their capstone project. This position will provide support and guidance to seniors to develop their final paper and project to be shared at an end of the year reception. This is a grant funded position. The teacher may require nights and weekend work on a limited basis.

Bachelor's degree in education, sociology, family studies or related field plus one year of related experience required. Must have teaching certificate in the state of Nebraska and Omaha Public Schools. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with underrepresented students necessary. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and educators, including but not limited to parents, community and school leaders, and alumni essential.

One year of experience providing academic support for first generation, low income and underrepresented students preferred. Knowledgeable of the Omaha South community desirable. Event planning experience helpful. Prefer supervision experience.
