Position Summary and Responsibilities The Wimpfheimer Nursery School and the Infant Toddler Center, located on the Vassar College campus, are laboratory schools serving as a teacher training and research facility, and welcomes Vassar and community families. The Substitute Assistant Teacher will assist other teachers in a variety of classrooms with children ranging from infancy to age 6. This on-call position provides coverage when a regular staff member is absent.
Qualifications
Previous experience with young children preferred.
Flexibility and strong skills to work with other adults is essential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires the candidate to be able to care for children's physical needs on a consistent basis. Candidates must be able to interact with children on their level; frequent bending, squatting and playing on the floor is expected. Candidate must be able to lift 30 pounds. Candidate must remain alert and productive. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching outside in all seasons and all weather.
