Position Description: The Teacher Apprentice position at UCLA Lab School works under the supervision of the school administration and Demonstration Teachers to create a dynamic learning environment that fosters inclusivity and celebrates diversity. The primary responsibilities will involve co-planning and co-creating lessons with clear objectives, aligned with long-term units of study. The lessons delivered will utilize anticipatory set plans to generate interest, build on prior knowledge, and spark curiosity among students. To support student learning, there will be opportunities for guided practices, create thought-provoking questions, and regularly check for understanding during lessons. Small group instruction will be required to accommodate unique learning requirements and increase student involvement to differentiate teaching and learning. Formative and summative assessments will be used as an educational approach to track student accomplishment efficiently. This position also requires reflecting on lesson plans in order to identify strengths and areas for growth. Additionally, participate in professional development opportunities offered by UCLA Lab School to enhance teaching abilities.

As UCLA Lab School, curtailment periods generally coincide with holidays, seasonal breaks, i.e., Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks.
Curtailment days may result in employees using vacation, accrued compensation time or leave without pay.
The budgeted hiring salary/target range for this position is the posted minimum to $26.83 hourly, with salary placement based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
