This is an open employment posting for a University Community School Classroom Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Classroom Teacher positions are eleven-month, full-time, EHRA Non-Faculty positions in the College of Education and report to the ECU Community School Principal.
The College of Education is currently seeking an individual to serve as a University Community School Teacher to serve in a classroom within the East Carolina University Community School. The position is an eleven-month, full-time, EHRA non faculty position in the College of Education. Teachers at the Community School report to the ECU Community School Principal.
As an educator within the East Carolina University School, the teacher will cultivate a culture of innovation that supports effective instructional practices/strategies to promote student academic and personal success for all students in the school. The Teacher will work collaboratively with others to facilitate and implement innovative instruction to achieve the mission of the school. The teacher will work collaboratively with the ECU Community School Principal and university faculty/staff to support the successful social-emotional, physical, and academic development of the students within the community school. Responsibilities: —Demonstrate leadership to motivate effective learning practices and to strive for superior student performance —Facilitate the broad goals of the school and plan accordingly and collaboratively with other teachers, the ECU Community School Principal, the University School liaison and ECU faculty members to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total community school program. —Cultivate leadership in students and families. —Actively participate in professional development offered within the Community School and beyond —Serve as an advocate for students through implementation of innovative strategies and integration of a variety of support services such that each student's social, emotional, physical and academic potential can be maximized. —Maximize the interconnectedness of curricular areas within the classroom to meet the needs of various learners. —Effectively assess students through a variety of methods to determine appropriate instructional strategies and learning environments. —Seek to connect students and their families with appropriate services embedded within the Community School's integrated network of partners who will provide service and support for non-academic issues that impact student learning. —Engage in and enhance meaningful collaboration and relationships amongst school and community stakeholders. —Actively engage in ongoing communication with parents to ensure they are informed about their child's progress within the school and to ensure families are aware of school resources available for their child and their family. —Work collaboratively with university staff to ensure accessibility to students needed to conduct research. —Receive visitors within the classroom for the purpose of instruction, assistance, research, and observation (which will include being observed, video-taping, and interviews).

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a current professional North Carolina Teaching License in elementary (K-6) or related field; excellent oral and written communication skills; and evidence of skill working with at risk student populations. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions.
