Detailed Description:
This is a full-time, temporary, and benefit based position with an approximate end date of June 30, 2024.

Under the supervision of the Director, the teacher, with a co-teacher, implements a developmentally appropriate program of education and care for children aged 2 through 5 in a full day setting. The teacher participates in all aspects of the program, including curriculum development, goal setting and evaluation, assessment of individual growth and development, and conferences with parents. The teacher also provides guidance to student employees, practicum/field experience students, interns, and volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with a co-teacher to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for 12-15 children supported by the Center's philosophy and mission. Plans and prepares written goals for both individual children and the group as a whole.
• Facilitate a classroom environment that supports individual and classroom goals for growth and development and in which children at various developmental levels are stimulated, challenged, and engaged.
• Provides active supervision of and involvement with children as assigned.
• With a co-teacher and parent involvement, maintains progressive documentation of children's growth and development based on individual and classroom goals and regular, ongoing assessment.
• Maintains close communication with parents to discuss and analyze growth and development. Develops and maintains method of regular communication with parents including written information about curriculum and events, and daily informal updates related to each child.
• Engaged in collaborative reflection of teaching practices and classroom events with co-teacher and center staff. Participates in regular team meetings to facilitate collaboration.
• Provides guidance to USD practicum, field experience, and/or interning students as assigned according to their course requirements and individual goals. Participates in evaluation of student performance as assigned.
• Participates in school events and organizations as requested.
• Maintains supply inventories and generates supply request lists as needed.

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Pediatric 1st aid and CPR certification.
• Proof of negative TB screening.
• LiveScan screening to include fingerprint clearance and child abuse index.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of 12 secondary units in Early Childhood Education required.
• Minimum of an Associates Degree in ECE or Child Development preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a full day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5.
• Pediatric 1st aid and CPR certification.
• Proof of negative TB screening.
• LiveScan screening to include fingerprint clearance and child abuse index.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred three years of experience in a full day Child Development Center working with children between the ages of 2 and 5.

Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, to sit, and to talk and hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must frequently lift materials up to 10 pounds in weight, and occasionally lift children up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job are distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• The work involved with this position includes indoor and outdoor supervision of children.
• The noise typical for the work environment of this job is moderate.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
