Description: The School of Music at Baylor University is looking for an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Viola.
APPOINTMENT DATE: August 2024
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit and maintain an outstanding studio of viola majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Teach undergraduate and graduate viola students.
Teach viola orchestral repertoire, viola methods classes and possible additional allied subjects (such as string chamber literature).
Coach chamber music.
Engage in meaningful professional and creative activity at the national and international levels as a performer/artist.
Provide service at both the School of Music and University levels.
Contribute fully to the artistic and intellectual life of Baylor University and the School of Music.
RANK AND SALARY:
Full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Master's degree (in hand at appointment start date) or exceptional commensurate professional experience required; doctorate preferred.
An exceptional reputation as a performer at the national and international levels.
Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching viola at the university level preferred.
A proven track record for recruiting talented students preferred.
Experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds and inclusion in teaching/learning and in professional activities required.
