The School of Music at Baylor University is looking for an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Viola.

APPOINTMENT DATE: August 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Recruit and maintain an outstanding studio of viola majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate viola students.
• Teach viola orchestral repertoire, viola methods classes and possible additional allied subjects (such as string chamber literature).
• Coach chamber music.
• Engage in meaningful professional and creative activity at the national and international levels as a performer/artist.
• Provide service at both the School of Music and University levels.
• Contribute fully to the artistic and intellectual life of Baylor University and the School of Music.

RANK AND SALARY:

• Full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
• Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree (in hand at appointment start date) or exceptional commensurate professional experience required; doctorate preferred.
• An exceptional reputation as a performer at the national and international levels.
• Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching viola at the university level preferred.
• A proven track record for recruiting talented students preferred.
• Experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds and inclusion in teaching/learning and in professional activities required.
