Position Summary and Responsibilities Wimpfheimer Nursery School and Infant Toddler Center is hiring Assistant Teachers for the school year 2023-24, August 15 - June 24, 8:00am-4:15pm and 9:00am-5:15pm alternating schedule for full time. 9:30am-1:30pm or 12:15pm-5:15pm for part time. As an assistant teacher, you will support a team approach, working with other educators to develop and implement a high quality early education and care program that reflects the goals of our laboratory nursery school for children ages 0-5. Assistant teachers will exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication, respectful responsive caregiving practices, and a passion for working with children and families.
Qualifications
CDA or 2 year degree in ECE or working towards degree in ECE
Knowledge of positive approaches for child guidance and discipline
Understanding of a Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum and approaches for learning through play and trusting relationships
Organize and care for the classroom environment, prepare and arrange materials, clean up and set up
Knowledge of responsive care rituals to support children through daily rituals such as meals, rest, toilet learning
Desire to grow and increase knowledge in the field and seek innovative approaches
Cheerful, nurturing, positive, team player with a collaborative work ethic
Participate in school events such as parent night and teacher reflections
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT This position requires the candidate to be able to care for childrens physical needs on a consistent basis. Candidates must be able to interact with children on their level; frequent bending, squatting and playing on the floor is expected. Candidate must be able to lift 30 pounds. Candidate must remain alert and productive. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching outside in all seasons and all weather.
