Position Information
UC Riverside's Early Childhood Services is recruiting for a full-time Lead Teacher. The Lead Teacher organizes and coordinates the care and developmental activities of children from birth to 5 years of age and will provide a developmentally appropriate early education preschool program, following program standards of the California Department of Education and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) with strict adherence to the NAEYC Ethical Code of Conduct. May assist the Site Coordinators and/or Executive Director in a liaison capacity with academic personnel conducting research projects at the Center. In coordination with the Site Coordinators, oversees the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the care of children. Responsible for providing input on long range planning to the Executive Director and/or Site Coordinators, while also providing oversight to Teacher I's and Assistant Teachers. May also serve in the Site Coordinator's absence either on a routine basis or during the Center's extended hours of operation, or on an occasional basis for up to thirty consecutive days. Must meet applicable Title 22 and Title 5 requirements for this type of appointment. The Lead Teacher will also work as part of the Child Development Center teaching team.

Degree
Requirement Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or equivalent college coursework. Completed coursework must include one class in Supervising Adults. Requirement Possession of a Child Development Permit/Credential at Site Supervisor Level, prior to employment start date. Preferred

Requirement Complete within 60 calendar days of enrollment for 4-12 children including the required Developmental Profile utilizing the web based eCompendium DRDP-R Computer Program, and update according to timeline mandated by the California Department of Education for specified age group. Required Maintain professional development by attending workshops, trainings and conferences, as required to maintain appropriate and required Child Development Credential and or lead to degrees (B.A., and/or M.A.) Required

Requirement Experience in creating and maintaining child portfolios as assessment tools documenting each child's progress and utilizing documentation to develop learning program. Required Experience in conducting parent/teacher conferences utilizing portfolios as documentation. Required Experience in working with culturally diverse populations of children and families. Required Experience using Conflict Resolution techniques and strategies. Required Demonstrated experience in meeting strict timelines for submission of documentation. Required Experience in administering the Clifford and Harms Environmental Rating Scale. Preferred Experience working in a Center-based Campus program for early care and education. Preferred Experience completing the self-study process for NAEYC Accreditation. Preferred Experience with full scope of supervision and staffing, including evaluating performance of assistant teachers and student assistants. Skill in utilizing a structured interview approach to identify the most qualified candidate. Preferred Experience with overseeing an infant/toddler classroom. Preferred Minimum of 1 year of experience in a licensed early childhood education center. Required

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated skill to develop lesson plans utilizing NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Early Learning Standards, and California Department of Education Desired Results, and GLAD.
Knowledge of Title 5 of the California Department of Education - Ed Code.
Knowledge of California Department of Education Desired Results.
Knowledge and understanding of the NAEYC Ethical Code of Conduct.
Knowledge of National Association for the Education of Young Children Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
Skill in developing and writing classroom information for inclusion in monthly newsletter, Parent Summary for conferences and presenting of material in workshop format to parents and with teaching teams.
Demonstrated skill in working with children ages 3-5 years of age.
Knowledge of Clifford and Harms Environmental Rating Scale.
Knowledge of staffing required to maintain Title 5 Adult Child ratios.
Skill and experience in planning a curriculum for a multi-age group of children utilizing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Developmental Profiles.
Ability to attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, weekly lead teacher meetings and weekly team meetings.
Ability to work as part of the Child Development Center teaching team and Admin team.
