QUALIFICATIONS
Must be enrolled as a graduate student at Bank Street Collegefor the 2022-2023 school year.
Bachelor’s degree
Experience teaching children 7-10-year-olds preferred
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Teacher will:
Support the curriculum plans of the cooperating teacher and age-level and gradually assume increased responsibilities, including opportunities to initiate and implement parts of the curriculum.
Help build a collaborative, cooperative, and reflective approach to working as a classroom teaching team and as an age-level teaching team.
Participate in the use of observing and recording methods, assessment practices, and management supports as related to individual children, small groups, and the whole class.
Gain skills and understanding of progressive education approaches supporting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth and development of particular age groups.
Develop skills and confidence in working with families, including aspects of home-school communication through emails, conferences, and report writing.
Attend and participate in weekly age-level planning meetings, support meetings, and faculty meetings after school.
Help design, organize and maintain a materials-based classroom that reflects the curriculum and current work of the children. This includes daily classroom morning set-up and evening clean-up.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$38,000plusAssociate Teachers are eligible to take up to four free Graduate School courses for the school year (September 1st- August 31) and are also eligible for medical and dental coverage.
