Position Summary and Responsibilities The Wimpfheimer Nursery School is a laboratory school at Vassar College and it offers exciting professional development opportunities, and a joyful work climate.
We are seeking a support teacher to join our teaching team at the Wimpfheimer Nursery School and Infant Toddler Center. This position will be on an as needed basis. We are seeking a supportive flexible educator with an understanding of developmentally appropriate education and care practices for children ages 0-5. The support teacher will have the opportunity to sub in all the classrooms with various age groups from day to day as needed, and will be guaranteed a fixed/predictable schedule.
The support teacher must possess a positive professional approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a teaching team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching outside in all seasons and all weather.
Qualifications
Experience working in childcare, and a minimum CDA or some level of college coursework in early education.
Must be able to care for childrens physical needs on a consistent basis.
Must be able to interact with children on their level; frequent bending, squatting and playing on the floor is expected.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Candidates must remain alert and productive.
