The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applicants for an Early Childhood Teacher in the infant / toddler classroom to work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families, and college students. This is an 86%-time, benefited position with appointment dates from mid-August to mid-June.The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Hall, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to be teachers or a related profession with young children. Undergraduate and graduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. While being actively involved in the Child Development Centerâs learning community, the Early Childhood Teacher will plan, implement, and model best practices in early childhood programs for children, families, and college students. They mentor, assist in the supervision of college students, and create and participate in mutually supportive and respectful relationships between all members of our community. The ideal candidate will possess strong social and collaborative skills, and will have a keen understanding of an emergent, play-based curriculum, and an appreciation for the benefits gained therefrom.
Bachelorâs degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Elementary Education or related field with at least 18 credits in Early Childhood Education, including 3 credits in child development; experience teaching children birth to 5 years; demonstrated communication and organizational skills; sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
