The Department of Special Education at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University invites applications for an open-rank practice (non-tenured) faculty position. We are seeking an emerging or established leader in the area of teacher education and high incidence disabilities. Responsibilities include teaching and supervision in our Intervention Specialist program, advising undergraduate and master's students, overseeing the department's teacher education program, collaborating with Tennessee's State Department of Education and local education agencies, pursuing federal teacher training grants, engaging in program development, and providing service to the university and profession. Preferred qualifications include content knowledge in teaching mathematics to K-12 students with high incidence disabilities, content knowledge in teaching students with high incidence disabilities in middle and high school, and an understanding of the CAEP accreditation process.

For over five decades, our Department has been a leader in research and graduate training focused on individuals with disabilities, their families, and the schools and agencies that serve them. Our faculty are highly collaborative and invested in research that is ambitious, innovative, and inspiring. We partner with school districts, disability organizations, community groups, and the Tennessee Department of Education to meet the needs of students with disabilities from a wide variety of backgrounds, as well as to prepare the next generation of teachers and scholars. A doctorate in special education, education, psychology, or a related field is required. Employment will also require a background clearance check.
