Position Summary:Work under the direction of the UI Children's Center Director as a Lead Teacher responsible for planning, preparing, implementing and evaluating activities and routines for a developmentally appropriate program according to NAEYC Accreditation Standards; maintain a physical environment to promote growth; observe and record developmental levels and progress; develop partnerships with parents and provide care for physical needs of clientele; supervising and evaluating assistant classroom staff; maintaining a safe and sanitary environment; performing related work.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University closure. Minimum Qualifications:- Willing to complete or begin the process towards a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development-Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education or Elementary Education. Timeline of completion established upon hire.
- EDUCATION: Current Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent or working toward an associates or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development-Family Studies, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education or equivalent or combination of education and three or more years work experience in a NAEYC Accredited program or combination of education with three or more years of work experience in a non-accredited program and completion of 30 contact hours of relevant training during the past three years.
- EXPERIENCE: reading and understanding written instructions; good communication skills.
- SOME KNOWLEDGE OF: normal development of children from six weeks to preschool age; methods used to teach preschool children basic skills; and supervisory practices.
- MUST: Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a State of Idaho Health and Welfare background check.
Preferred Qualifications: - Some knowledge of CPR and First Aid procedures.
- Knowledge of NAEYC philosophy and standards.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: - Physical ability to work around small children.
- Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 lbs.
- Stand, sit, run, and climb stairs.
