Job Description: Western Kentucky University Child Care Center (WKUCCC), is seeking applicants for a Classroom Teacher. This is a grant funded position and continued employment is subject to availability of funds. WKUCCC serves children ages 0-5 at two center locations. Working hours will be scheduled between 7:00am and 6:00 pm and are subject to change based on the needs of the program.
Responsibilities: Western Kentucky University Child Care Center Teachers facilitate team-structured teaching methodology in a mainstreamed and child-centered classroom for children ages, infants through preschool. Teachers are responsible for activity planning, tracking and documenting children's progress, conducting Home Visits and Parent Conferences and overseeing the general learning environment with primary focus of child supervision. Good communication skills (both oral and written) and record-keeping skills are required. This position works with individuals from a variety of backgrounds; sound judgment, computer literacy and management skills are desired. Activities may involve small or large groups or individual interaction. General day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with meals, toileting, and rest time, outside play, field trips, and other learning center activities. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all activity plans designed for children are completed following developmentally appropriate practices and that appropriate screening and assessment processes occur to ensure that children are provided with a wide variety of opportunities in their growth and development.
Job Requirements:- BS degree in Early Childhood or related field with early childhood coursework.
- Previous work experience with Head Start or other Child Development Programs is required.
- Must have the physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Additional Information:Conditions of Employment:
- A successful criminal background check.
- A copy of a TB skin test is required prior to entrance into the classroom.
- A copy of a general health/physical is required within thirty (30) days of employment.
Expected Salary: $13-$16 per hour
