This recruitment will be used to fill future full-time, part-time, and temporary Early Childhood Associate Teacher positions at Oregon State University-Cascades. These positions will be located in Bend, OR.
The Early Childhood Associate Teacher in the OSU-Cascades Childcare and Early Learning Center (ELC) provides a positive learning environment and curriculum that support children's social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive development. This position will serve in one of the three classrooms; infant, toddler or preschool. The ELC Teacher reports to the ELC Director.
OSU-Cascades Childcare and Early Learning Center is located on the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend, Oregon. The facility serves OSU-Cascades, COCC and the Central Oregon community.
Our program has expanded from a pop-up center that was opened to meet the immediate need during the pandemic, to a full-day childcare center with up to 30 children. Future plans include development of an early learning center with a 100-child capacity by the fall of 2022.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a recognized program; OR a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR a minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; AND one year of experience in a certified day care center or comparable group care program; OR two years of experience, including at least one year as a teacher, in a certified day care center or comparable group child care program.
Requirements :
OCC approved health and safety training (within 30 days of hire date)
OCC approved safe sleep training (for infant classroom) (within 30 days of hire date)
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a teaching team and follow directions.
A demonstrable ability to design and implement a culturally appropriate learning environment.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Demonstrated ability to supervise a group of children and their activities by standing, walking, reaching, sitting (on floor, small chairs, &/or outdoors), stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Have, or obtain within 90 days of hiring, current infant/child CPR & Basic First Aid; Blood Borne Pathogen training, and Food Handler's permit.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Type:
Monday through Friday approximately 8AM-5PM. Occasional evening work may be required.
