Drake University Head Start teachers facilitate individualized learning experiences to promote children's readiness for school and beyond. Through planned and spontaneous instruction, relationships with adults, and play, children grow in language and literacy, early math and science concepts, and social and emotional development.
Drake University Head Start is seeking a 9-month full-time substitute (typically running from August through May) who can support our teachers, teacher associates, and the children participating in our program. The substitute will assist in daily activities in the classroom, including preparing breakfast and snacks, and serving prepared lunch, cleaning and sanitizing to ensure healthy and safe environment, daily documentation, and participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a developmentally appropriate early childhood curriculum and practice.
The substitute will assist the teacher and teacher associate with instruction, planning, and paperwork; will do some cooking/food preparation; and will work directly with children. This position will be assigned to serve programs and children living in the following Iowa counties: Boone, Story, Jasper, Marion, Polk, and Warren. This position may include conducting home visits for the Head Start and Early Head Start programs throughout the assigned counties.
