This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Early Childhood Associate Teacher: Infant Classroom position at OSU-Cascades. This position will be located in Bend, OR.
Under general supervision of the Early Learning Center Director, the Early Childhood Associate Teacher: Infant Classroom is responsible for developing and implementing age appropriate curriculum; providing a positive learning environment that supports the children's social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive development; observing the progress of children; mentoring less experienced teachers; partnering and communicating with parents and/or legal guardians; and cultivating a positive relationship with other staff members and community partners.
OSU-Cascades Childcare and Early Learning Center is located on the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend, Oregon. The facility serves OSU-Cascades, COCC and the Central Oregon community. Our program has expanded from a pop-up center that was opened to meet the immediate need during the pandemic, to a full-day childcare center with up to 30 children. Future plans include development of an early learning center with a 100-child capacity by the fall of 2022.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,200 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus expansion, which is currently in progress. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students and is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a recognized program; OR a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR a minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; AND one year of experience in a certified day care center or comparable group care program; OR two years of experience, including at least one year as a teacher, in a certified day care center or comparable group child care program.
OCC approved health and safety training (within 30 days of hire date)
OCC approved safe sleep training (for infant classroom) (within 30 days of hire date)
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a teaching team and follow directions.
A demonstrable ability to design and implement a culturally appropriate learning environment.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Demonstrated ability to supervise a group of children and their activities by standing, walking, reaching, sitting (on floor, small chairs, &/or outdoors), stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds.
Have, or obtain within 90 days of hiring, current infant/child CPR & Basic First Aid; Blood Borne Pathogen training, and Food Handler's permit.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
This position requires prolonged child holding, floor sitting and lifting children in and out of cribs/play pens.
