Members to NAGC can receive three publications -- Parenting for Gifted Children, Teaching for High Potential, and the academic journal, Gifted Child Quarterly. All are available through the mail and online.

The Wee School Teacher:
Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities for children enrolled. This includes physical needs, classroom activity participation, goal writing, lesson plans, preparation, etc.
Supervises and evaluates classroom assistants and aids. This includes observing and documenting the job performance and potential disciplinary and performance issues.
Maintains the classroom in a safe, clean, and orderly environments, such as through maintaining licensing standards as set forth by the state, and supervising children during free play, naps, and outdoor time.
Assess children's individual needs and goal development through biannual parental meetings, records, developmental goals, and routine assessments.
Attends staff meetings and participates in ongoing professional development.
Performs other duties as assigned by childcare leaders.
EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Proficient communication skills.
Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
