Members to NAGC can receive three publications -- Parenting for Gifted Children, Teaching for High Potential, and the academic journal, Gifted Child Quarterly. All are available through the mail and online.
The gifted specialist serves as the content replacement teacher for gifted identified students in 3rd-5th grade in Math and 4th-5th grade in Reading. Additionally, the specialist provides guidance and support to the cluster and regular classroom teachers on campus as well as supports with differentiated learning opportunities as needed.
The specialist should:
possess a deep understanding of the unique learning needs of gifted students and the social/emotional needs of the learners
demonstrate a strong understanding of differentiation strategies and be able to communicate and model these within the content areas
possess a growth mindset and communicate that forward thinking approach in all aspects of coaching
possess a clear understanding of data driven instruction and how to utilize data to inform instructional practices
Standard Professional Teaching Certificate - K-8 with Gifted and SEL endorsements
Gifted Endorsement - Full or Provisional
Valid IVP Finger Print Clearance Card from the Department of Public Safety
