Laboratory Schools: Spanish Teacher, High School (1 year only)

Job Description:

Job Summary:

The candidate will be capable of teaching Spanish in grades 9-12, including advanced high school courses.

Responsibilities:  

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across faculties and departments, as well as parents, administrators, and other members of school staff.
• Exhibit knowledge and competence in a broad range of pedagogical techniques and best practices in world language instruction, including the use of technology in the world language classroom.
• Full-time teachers are expected to work a 40-hour week and the required number of days as stipulated in the Faculty Association contract.
• All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• The anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/2021.

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Education: 

• Bachelors degree required.
• Advanced degree preferred. 

 

Experience:   

• At least two years of experience teaching World Languages in secondary education required.
• Fluency in Spanish required.
• Fluency in English required.
• Working knowledge developing curriculum preferred. 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Move in and around the classroom/building to interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other members of the community.
• Move class-related equipment/tools, as appropriate, around school property.
• When appropriate, escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
• Demonstrate lessons, when appropriate.
