| SUMMARY: Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) aims to increase the pipeline of disadvantaged high school and college students into medical school. This multifaceted effort is specifically designed to increase retention and graduation of these diverse underserved students across the educational continuum, from high school and community college into four year college and graduate medical school professional programs.
The HCOP Academy exposes students to careers in medicine and provides resources to assist students to progress to the next educational level. Services include advising, educational enhancement, mentoring, field trips, panels, entrance exam preparation, application assistance, and more. Working under the direction of the HCOP Case Manager & Advisor, the Teacher will assist with curriculum development for and supervision of high school participants in the HCOP Explorers and Saturday Academy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop STEM curriculum modules for high school participants.
- Schedule visits with community partners for exposure to various healthcare populations and environments.
- Supervise student activities and promote engagement with content and facilitators.
- Collect & maintain a repository of academic resources for students.
