Assistant or Associate Professor - Ag and Life Sciences Teacher Education
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Agricultural Education and Studies at Iowa State University located in Ames, Iowa seeks applicants for a 9-month, tenure/tenure eligible, at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This position focuses on teacher education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through agricultural and life sciences education. The position is 70% teaching and advising, and 25% research, and 5% service.
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, both resident and online; advising undergraduate and graduate students; supervising student interns; serving on departmental, college, and university committees; advising a student organization; developing a focused area of scholarship supported by extramural funding.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest and ability related to agriculture and life sciences education and will develop a strong research program of national scope focused on teacher education in agriculture and life sciences education.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD, awarded by the start date, in Agriculture Education or closely related field
Experience in teacher education
Experience conducting research
Associate Professor: For consideration at the associate professor rank, applicants must meet, in addition to the above requirements for this position, the department, college and university standards for appointment at the associate professor rank with tenure, includingnationally recognized contributions to scholarship in their area of expertise, a record of acquisition of external funding for research activities, and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
Three or more years of teaching experience in agriculture or closely-related field at the school-based or college level
Demonstrated ability, interest, and innovation in resident and online teaching
Demonstrated experience in one or more areas related to agricultural STEM education
Demonstrated experience in experiential learning
Demonstrated success in securing extramural funding to support scholarship
Evidence of ability to work effectively within and across diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.

The Department of Agriculture Education and Studies has as its focus the teaching and learning processes. All three elements of the land-grant philosophy â learning, discovery, and engagement â are part of the departmentâs emphasis on the educational processes, and how these processes impact our clientele in a variety of agricultural settings.
