Members to NAGC can receive three publications -- Parenting for Gifted Children, Teaching for High Potential, and the academic journal, Gifted Child Quarterly. All are available through the mail and online.
The Teacher Certification Specialist will oversee compliance with Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) certification and licensing rules and regulations for CWU Teacher Education candidates. This position will direct licensing and certification processes and procedures, recommend to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) for CWU Residency Teacher and Principal candidates for official certification, and supervise staff. All employees are expected to support CWU’s commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment.
Bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution
Experience working with diverse populations
Experience with P-12 schools or higher education
Experience effectively organizing multiple work assignments involving competing priorities to produce work products that are accurate, of high quality, and that meet deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
Ability to handle confidential information
Experience with electronic filing and communication systems
Experience that demonstrates the ability to use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and/or similar software applications to create complex documents, create, modify, and format spreadsheets, and prepare professional presentations
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills, including excellent customer service experience
Experience with public speaking; ability to prepare and present information for departmental and P-12 groups
Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences
OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Experience working in P-12 Schools and/or higher education
Knowledge of Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction requirements and processes
Knowledge of Washington Professional Educator Standards Board requirements and processes
Experience using video-conferencing technology
