Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Site Director of the Infant Toddler Center, the Teacher of the Infant Program provides direct care to six infants (age range 6 weeks to 18 months). This position provides nurturing and responsive care giving and engages in consistent and ongoing interaction and developmentally appropriate practices with infants and young toddlers throughout the day. The teacher is responsible for being aware and complying with licensing, health and safety regulations at all times. Responsibilities:
Planning for and carrying out the care of each individual child;
Providing and modeling positive and loving care giving practices in classroom management;
Interacting with and supporting parents and families;
Supervising college work study students;
Writing parent newsletters and parent teacher conference reports;
Assisting researchers working with children, and caring for the general classroom and school environment;
Other duties as assigned by the site director.
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. Must be able to observe a schedule of 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Flexibility is required as hours may occasionally need to be adjusted or modified due to staffing or programming needs.
Two to five years of experience in an early child care/education setting required;
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field is required;
Must be able to make careful observations and respond quickly and flexibly to infants in order to support their needs in gross motor situations, conflict resolution, and supporting social-emotional health and development;
Must be able to assess and address the various and rapidly changing needs of children and be able to effectively multi-task;
Infant and child CPR certification is required;
Must be able to successfully meet all NYS background-checks requirements.
