Duties: Teach applied private instruction at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels in orchestral percussion, multi-percussion, marimba, and world percussion traditions, according to the candidate's expertise; teach additional courses in the percussion program such as percussion literature and pedagogy and percussion ensemble; mentor and advise percussion students; other departmental needs as required. The appointee will be expected to: work in conjunction with the director of percussion; demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and innovation; recruit and retain students of high caliber; maintain a visible national and international profile as a performer and teacher. The appointee will also be expected to: participate in faculty governance; attend faculty meetings; serve on faculty and University committees as appropriate. It is desirable that the appointee perform on campus in solo and chamber music repertory with faculty colleagues.

Required: Graduate degree in percussion performance or equivalent professional experience; sustained and distinguished professional record as a performer of multi-percussion repertory, chamber music and orchestral performance; Commitment to nurturing a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences, as demonstrated through pedagogy, service, and activities; demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching by having presented master classes, maintained private studios, and/or served as a faculty member at institution(s) of higher learning; evidence of the ability to recruit and maintain a successful percussion studio.
Preferred: Specializations in world percussion, commercial/popular music, new music, and/or other disciplines. DMA degree.
