The Interior Design Program in the School of Planning, Design & Construction (SPDC) at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a full-time Academic Specialist- Teacher (full-time instructor) with continuing appointment beginning in August 2019. Having been accredited since 1976, the Interior Design program is proud of its long tradition and offers a rigorous curriculum that successfully combines various aspects in design, research, services and client relationships.
This Academic Specialist is non-tenure track, full-time teaching position, continual/permanent following two successful probationary reviews at year 2 and 5. We are especially seeking candidates who have expertise in teaching interior design core courses including design fundamentals, history of interior design, interior materials and building systems, professional practice, or design studios. This position requires a 10% service responsibility to School and Program.

Masters -Interior Design or related field
A master's degree or higher in interior design, or closely related field, is required by August 16, 2019.
A successful candidate will be expected to have experience in teaching design studios and/or history/theory courses and at least three years of professional design experience.
Active National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification or ability to achieve NCIDQ certification within 12 months of employment is required.
A successful candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to support a collegial and collaborative working environment in addition to possessing effective communication skills.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or WELL Accredited Professional (AP) is preferred.
