Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Special Education teacher for the Child & Adolescent Services – Education Program at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Special Education Teacher functions as a teacher for a self-contained class with the Child and/or Adolescent Therapeutic Day School staff providing therapeutic and special education services to children.
Plans appropriate educational strategies based on diagnostic information as indicated by completion of technique guideline in chart.
Attends IEP meetings and prepares written summaries of child's progress for these meetings.
Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary staff team implementing each child's Treatment Plan.
Helps implement and assists with the design and development of the classroom behavior management system.
Executes educationally appropriate curriculum and behavior management interventions for academic learning.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related discipline.
New Jersey State Certification of Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities.
Experience with emotionally disturbed children.
Previous experience with children (3 1/2 – 21 years).
Fingerprinting is required at employee's expense, as required by NJ State Law.
