We are seeking an early literacy and teacher education scholar who can contribute research on a state and national level related to the long-term effectiveness of P-3 literacy practices in educational systems and the assessment and implementation of evidence-based practices in early literacy. Candidate's research program should contribute to an understanding of barriers and opportunities facing historically underrepresented groups. The candidate should be prepared to teach courses in early literacy education, teacher education, learning sciences, and research methods. In addition, the candidate would advise undergraduate and graduate students; recruit and mentor graduate students in research; provide outreach and service for department and college initiatives for underserved communities and high needs areas; provide service and leadership to the program area, department, college, university, and professional organizations; participate in outreach and engagement with stakeholders across the state of North Carolina; and contribute to the overall departmental and college missions through research, teaching, outreach, and service.
