Ready to Learn Providence (R2LP) improves the educational and health outcomes of young children in
Rhode Island through professional development, community engagement, research and direct service.
We partner with families, educators and policymakers to promote best practices in early childhood
education and healthy development in pursuit of the vision that all young children will be healthy and
ready to learn.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
Assist the Lead Teacher in providing a positive and nurturing relationship with children.
Contribute to the implementation of the daily curriculum.
Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining an environment for children which is clean, safe, stimulating and appropriate for each child's developmental level.
Provide appropriate management classroom management techniques through positive redirection, problem-solving, setting appropriate limits, and active listening.
Set up daily activities as agreed upon with the Lead Teacher.
Assist in implementing Early Literacy Kit activities that promote the language and literacy development of the child.
Assist children through "routine" times: snack, toilet and hand washing, getting ready for outside time, clean up of materials, departure, etc. .
Assist in relating to families in a positive and respectful manner; particularly at arrival and departure times.
Communicate family questions and concerns to the Lead Teacher.
Maintain the confidentiality of all family/child information.
Maintain a positive job attitude including positive team behavior (e.g., willing to pitch in, problem solving attitude, positive communication style, etc.).
Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designee.
High School Diploma Required, CDA or 12-college credits preferred;
Experience working with young children.
