Members to NAGC can receive three publications -- Parenting for Gifted Children, Teaching for High Potential, and the academic journal, Gifted Child Quarterly. All are available through the mail and online.
Job Summary: The Center for Integrative Studies in General Science (CISGS) and the Department of Integrated Biology in the College of Natural Science are jointly seeking a fixed term faculty instructor to teach and support curriculum development of undergraduate general education science courses in the biological sciences. The initial duration of the appointment will be one year (9 months) with expectation of continuing renewal based on satisfactory performance. Responsibilities will include teaching integrative science courses to non-science majors (e.g., Applications in Environmental Science; Applications in Biomedical Science). The teaching responsibilities will typically be two to three sections per semester, depending on engagement in other efforts. Opportunities are available to participate in ongoing efforts to build online courses; to collaborate with researchers engaged in cutting-edge research in disciplinary-based science education, assessment and evaluation; and to teach summer semester classes.
Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related fields or in science education with a biological emphasis, and strong evidence of experience in teaching undergraduate science courses are required. Preferred candidates will have employed in-class active learning and/or inquiry-based modes of instruction and be proficient and current in the use of instructional technology.
