Duties and Responsibilities:
The University of Houston, College of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction seeks scholars and seasoned professionals for a faculty appointment at the academic rank of Clinical Associate Professor who will serve our teacher preparation program. The College of Education at UH has a long-standing partnership with Houston Independent School District (HISD), along with other large school districts, to prepare highly effective teachers to serve the local communities.
This position will serve as the Lead Site Coordinator in the year-long student teaching component of our teacher preparation program. This includes rigorous teaching in the program, coaching of student teachers in our site-based model, and leadership of the Site Coordinator team. The successful candidate will also participate in course and program development in support of the US PREP initiative.
This is a nine month appointment. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is Fall 2017. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience and will include benefits. Applicants must have a doctorate in teacher education or related field. Experience teaching at the K-12 level is expected, and the applicant must provide evidence of knowledge regarding current research-based trends and cultural contexts in US schools and university-based teacher preparation programs.
